Quartz Welder / Glassblower / Glass Welder
Schunk Xycarb Technology, in Georgetown, Texas, is seeking a Quartz Welder / Glassblower/ Glass Welder.

What are you going to do?
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform complex glass working tasks in the shaping and forming of quartz materials. Fabricate complex and delicate products and repair existing quartz products for the semiconductor industry
  • Work from rough sketches, blueprints and verbal instruction
  • Ability to perform free-hand glasswork / quartz work as required
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to design, fabricate and repair semiconductor-grade quartz products.
  • Use various quartz fabrication equipment such as lathes, hydrogen/oxygen torches, and annealing ovens to fabricate these customized glass vessels
  • Ensure a safe work environment by reviewing, understanding, and complying with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and Environmental, Health, Safety and Regulatory (EHS&R) requirements
  • Process incoming work requests to determine delivery of fabricated glassware
  • Schedule work to achieve quality production, on-time delivery and low cost
  • Evaluate completed work to ensure quality of functional and physical specifications to meet customer requirements
  • Track job completion, service delivery and other metrics as required
  • Stay abreast of current technologies used in scientific glassblowing by attending authorized seminars and instructional sessions to maintain competency in new areas of technology, components, tools, methods and practices
What will you bring?
Basic qualifications:
  • Experience in scientific glassblowing
  • Demonstrable precision welding ability – meeting/exceeding weld strength & cosmetic requirements
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specification and/or blueprints
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in semiconductor-grade quartz welding / glassblowing, Scientific Glass Technology or related technical discipline from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in scientific glassblowing
  • Develop and design tools, torches, jigs and fixtures for specialized fabrication assignments
  • Define efficient processes and best practices for routine work to optimize efficiency
  • Experience working on a cross functional team
  • Green Belt experience in Lean Manufacturing or Lean Six Sigma
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Microsoft Office and/or SAP experience
