Quality Engineer (m/f/d)
Join Schunk Xycarb Technology Inc., the one-stop leading global supplier of Quartz-ware, Silicon Carbide coated Graphite, Ceramic and Silicon consumable products and related technology services for the Microelectronics industry. The Georgetown, Texas site (SXT-US) – located just outside of Austin – is the global center of excellence for high-precision quartz parts used in the manufacturing of semiconductors. Your tasks:

Develop, apply, and maintain quality and reliability standards for Schunk Xycarb Technology Inc. products. Evaluate and classify customer return data, assess corrective actions for effectiveness, and support implementation of new processes or systems to enhance quality performance in the factory.

Collect quality related data and record this in the database. Analyze and assess the daily non-conforming product and lead the cross-functional team meeting to define disposition and corrective action plan. Identify improvement needs, draft improvement proposals and subsequently implement those.

Monitor and validate process improvement actions. Monitor customers’ requirements and assess whether they can be realized in a responsible manner. Support production employees in the assessment of products of questionable quality.

Deliver quality criteria to Manufacturing Engineers. Provide regular reports on progress, results, any deviations, causes and improvement requirements. Prepare and possibly put together training and instructions for employees and suppliers.

Handle customer complaints and coordinate Problem Solving sessions to work on root cause analysis and corrective action plans. Communicate back to external customers on the investigation results and monitor implementation of actions. Work internally with the operations team on understanding the root causes and lessons learned.

Participate in or lead improvement projects. Coordinate work, prioritize and determine multidisciplinary improvement action with immediate manager or departmental manager. Discuss quality aspects with colleagues at other business locations. Prepare reports on product/process quality.

Deal with quality and safety in own position, the department and the company. Adhere to company rules, health, safety and the environment regulations and procedures. Execute process audits (i.e. Layered Process Audits) and work together with the Quality Assurance team on spreading the quality mindset in the organization.
Your profile:
Applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field plus 3 years of experience in a quality role such as Quality Engineer, Quality Projects Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer or related (experience gained between completing coursework and degree conferral is acceptable). Experience must include:
- 3 years of experience commanding and applying quality analysis for product and process performance such as process capability, machine capability, statistical process control, and measuring system capability.
- 3 years of experience using problem solving and quality core tools: Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) & 8 Disciplines (8D)
- 3 years of experience in the automotive or semiconductor industry interacting with external customers to solve quality related issues (i.e. customer complaints)
- 3 years of experience in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards executing process audits or managing controlled documentation.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently. Must pass a drug test and background check prior to hire.
