Operational Excellence Manager

What are your main responsibilities?

It’s important that the Operational Excellence Manager is capable to identify and analyze improvement opportunities, leading & supporting projects to realize these improvement opportunities and at last sustaining the improvements in the practices & behavior of the organization/ employees. Schunk Xycarb Technology is a Global organization, so you also need to collaborate with the Global stakeholders. Other tasks you have include:
  • Develop, manage the execution and sustain within the Operations Team (OT) the vision of operational excellence on strategical, tactical and operational level, for short, mid and long term;
  • Lead the successful execution of Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, 5S, Kanban boards and other Lean Management activities in Operations;
  • Effectively communicate the status of the roadmap to the Director Operations and other stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion;
  • Manage and own expertise on operational excellence;
  • Stimulate, promote and organize Kaizen Events for reduction of waste;
  • Secure the new (lean manufacturing) practices in the Operations organization, both through systems but mainly by focusing on the acceptance of new practices in the organization;
  • Coaches, advises, trains and supports the industrial engineers of his/her team and the department managers, developing their skills and using tools on operational excellence and continuous improvement;
  • Support and drive (multi-site) cooperation between Schunk Xycarb Technology-NL Operations, other Schunk Xycarb Technology departments and other Schunk sites where applicable.

What are your skills? 

For this function it is important that you have good stakeholder management skills. You have experience with managing different kinds of improvement projects. The right candidate for this position will have:
  • At least a Technical Bachelor degree;
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar position;
  • Continuous improvement attitude and Lean Management skills;
  • Experience with methods like Kaizen, SMED, DMAIC, PDCA, VSM, QRM, FMEA;
  • A good command of the English language (written and spoken) (Dutch is not mandatory but appreciated).
